Arthritis

Inflammatory arthritis, such as rheumatoid arthritis, particularly benefits from early diagnosis and well-adjusted treatment.

Arthritis is inflammation of one or more joints. It can present with pain, swelling, warmth and stiffness, especially in the morning. Detecting and treating it early makes an important difference to its course.

In consultation a full clinical assessment is carried out to identify the type of arthritis and its activity, supported by blood tests and imaging when needed.

Continuous follow-up allows the treatment to be adjusted to the course of the disease and your circumstances, with regular reviews and clear goals.

What to expect from the first visit

We review your symptoms, their duration and pattern, examine your joints and decide which studies are needed to characterise the arthritis. If you already have a diagnosis, we review your current treatment plan together.

Frequently asked questions

Can rheumatoid arthritis be treated?

Yes. Effective treatments exist that help control inflammation and slow the progression of the disease. The plan is individualised for each case and reviewed regularly.

Which symptoms may point to an inflammatory disease?

Prolonged morning stiffness, persistent joint swelling, pain that improves with movement and marked tiredness are signs that deserve a rheumatological assessment.

Is arthritis hereditary?

Some types of arthritis show a degree of familial predisposition, but having a family history does not mean you will develop it. If you have symptoms and a family history, an early assessment is particularly useful.
